In a visual world, it’s pretty hard to grab people’s attentions with a text-only content. As a proof, we rarely see anything published on the Internet stripped from media elements like images, illustrations, animations, or videos.

Like the idiom says:
A picture is worth a thousand words.
It was true on the verge of professional journalism as quoted in 1911, and it’s even more important in our times, where the Internet and social media is a prominent place we hang out on a daily basis.
Finding the right picture could be a tedious task. Between the free and paid sources, one could easily get lost.
I’m sharing here my personal sources of free and paid stock pictures that you can use to make your content, banners, social media presence, more visual.
For me, quality is a very important component in my line of work. I’m only sharing sources that have a minimum of quality and could help you put some beautiful pieces to back your work.
Tons of sites claim to give high-end free stock photos, but most of them are meant to be a click trap to get you to click on an affiliate link.
I only use select sources with verified quality and business a fair business model. When hunting for any free resource, they key is to find a balance between what you give (you information, ads views, affiliate links click) and what you get (the so covet free quality image).
On the paid stock photos realm, we have 4 main business models:
- You can pay to own one item
- You get a subscription to download a set number of assets per month
- You get a subscription to get an unlimited number of assets per month
- You pay once and use anything you want
#1 and #2 are the most common on platforms with high-end quality and a large library. They know what they sell and they intend to get the most out of it.
#3 and #4 are a bit tricky. As anything advertised to be unlimited, quality is unlikely to be there (except for few exceptions).
My selection is more focused on giving you the best you could get for your money.
